Sweetwater Construction Corp. Announces Completion of Work at Saint Peter’s Adult Day Center in Monroe, N. J.

Twelve Year-Old Center Renovated to Be Best-In-Class

CRANBURY, N.J. (MARCH 2009) -- Sweetwater Construction Corp., a recognized leader in New Jersey construction, management and general contracting, recently announced the completion of a multiphase expansion and renovation of Saint Peter’s University Hospital’s Adult Medical Day Center at 200 Overlook Drive, Pondview Plaza, in the Middlesex County community of Monroe Township, N.J.
                      
The size of the center, which is located in a mixed-use complex, increased from 5,000 to 8,200 square feet. The renovation included construction of a parlor with a fireplace, an activity room, a multi-media theater, food service facilities, two dining areas, treatment room, quiet room, offices, employee lounge, hair salon, spa, game room, five single bathrooms, two bathrooms with multiple stalls and a sprinkler system.

A member of the Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, the Adult Day Center combines the nursing and medical care of Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., with a homelike setting to meet the needs of members of today’s aging population who are physically and cognitively impaired. The center celebrated the completion of the new facility with an Open House on March 11.

“This beautiful expanded facility will help patients feel secure, at home, and delay or eliminate the need for out-of-home placement,” said Ron Witt Sr., Sweetwater’s founder and president. “Our renovations, combined with the facility’s outstanding nursing care, will make this a one-of-a-kind facility and help set a new standard for adult daycare in New Jersey.”

The center provides nutritious meals and snacks, transportation, wellness monitoring, medication administration, activities and events. The center also offers therapeutic recreation and will soon launch a social program for those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and those in rehabilitation, struggling with mobility and other issues that limit their ability to participate in less structured programs.

Sweetwater specializes in the science and technology, hospitality, multi-family and institutional sectors, but in recent years has made a particular specialty of healthcare and surgery centers. At the Saint Peter’s Adult Day Center, the Sweetwater team focused on infection control, working with HEPA-filtered fans and isolating and sealing the existing HVAC system from occupied areas.

The architect for the Saint Peter’s Adult Medical Day Center was Lighthouse Architecture of Philadelphia, Pa., which specializes in construction and real estate development with a strong commitment to sustainable design.
