As a commercial contractor, Sweetwater Construction Corp.'s expertise in building and renovating medical office buildings, hospitals, surgical centers, and residential care facilities has been evolving for about 25 years now. President Ronald C. Witt, Sr., prior to Sweetwater, was president of Fluidics, Inc., one of the largest mechanical construction companies in the region specializing in mechanical work for hospital, laboratory and other major commercial and industrial projects. Our Healthcare Division recognizes the unique construction, cost and care requirements of the field. Our project teams have worked with developers, architects and engineers as their healthcare-related assignments move from the pencil stage, to the shovel stage, to the ribbon cutting. Medical projects have distinct qualities that require exceptional planning and coordination by the contractor.

Here are just a few areas where clients appreciate Sweetwater's medical care construction experience:

  • Logistics: ensure uninterrupted operation and safety for patient care, staff, and visitors at active facilities. This also extends to air quality protection, biohazards, and medical supplies.

  • Construction Standards: hospitals, hospital build outs/retrofits, surgical centers, and residential care facilities have numerous regulatory (DCA, DOH) and infrastructure requirements and guidelines not found in other commercial construction projects, such as ICRA and ILSM.

  • Cost Management: our proactive Predict-Ability modeling system, in addition to healthcare construction experience helps us identify cost variances and potential conflicts before it is too late. Our Merit Shop process ensures that we identify the most knowledgeable and cost-effective subcontractors available.
Beyond Managing Construction

We believe that the most successful outcomes start with the developer's vision, the architect's creative approach to fulfilling that vision, and the CM/GC becoming involved early in the planning stages. Sweetwater can help everyone handle the expected, and the unexpected. This can include, based on our completed work experience, planning to prevent downtime, procedures to avoid contamination, and functional design insights and alternatives.

One example is first-hand understanding of materials performance experience from the cost of installation, to repair, to finished appearance and maintenance. Let's say, the cost and performance of an EIFS or cultured stone exterior feature versus real stone or stucco. Choosing sheet vinyl over VCT floor because sheet vinyl is easier to clean, thus more sanitary. Using above-ceiling return air plenums over ducted to save some money. Whether it is medical clinics, surgical suites or residential pods in a nursing home, our clients are encouraged to draw on our experience.

Why Consider Sweetwater Construction Corp.

We are confident Sweetwater will meet or exceed your expectations should we work together on your healthcare or residential care construction project. Let our clients tell you why.
