As a dog-friendly company, Sweetwater excitedly em"barked" on its first animal hospital project back in 2009. Having previously constructed 9 surgery centers and dozens of medical offices, our expertise was there, along with a passion for furry friends. Winslow Animal Hospital of Sicklerville, NJ was completed in October of 2009 with many compliments from the owner, and also was awarded a 2011 Veterinary Economics Merit Award for Hospital Design. Now, as we begin our 24th surgery center and 6th vet facility, Sweetwater has attained proficiency with the project dynamics of this sector, such as design consultation, precise execution, and collaborating with technical vendors. We can quickly respond to challenges, and cultivate the "team spirit" that makes a difference in the outcome of the project. Each assignment has been exciting, for the inspiring architectural designs, the medical innovations and the joy of the doctors and staff when opening day arrives!

Our project executives and project managers have extensive experience and in depth knowledge of what it takes to construct laboratories, surgery suites, support systems, and medical office finishes. Several have worked directly for major pharmaceutical, device manufacturing and medical mechanical construction companies, with the added credential of engineering degrees. A number of our project superintendents are fully versed in design execution and standards for the healthcare field and understand the expectations of owners, architects, and engineers. They also demand high performance from our subcontractor team members, so that our crews work in a safe, professional and courteous manner. Superintendents ensure that Sweetwater's comprehensive safety and risk management program is followed. All of this, along with our preconstruction process, helps eliminate down time in the field after the project starts.

Our work in animal care facilities has ranged from constructing storefront general practices to larger mixed practices, as well as a regional emergency/specialty referral hospital. Both of the completed facilities are AAHA accredited and have won hospital design awards from Veterinary Economics.
